You may have already started counting the days until summer, but allow us just a second to fast forward past August. We promise it's for a good reason. The Fall/Winter 2022 season of New York Fashion Week is well underway with not only a new crop of styles to add to our shopping lists, but also some amazing beauty moments to match.

This season proved that everything old is new again with inspiration grabbed from the '60s, '80s, and '90s. There's also a bit of seasonal overlap happening, which was seen in the summery dewy skin spotted at Alutzarra and the spring-like cheeks at Brandon Maxwell. Unlike Fashion Weeks of the past, it looks as though we're moving away from the minimalist faces we've been seeing and actually creating fully painted faces again. Get inspired by the looks below and then shop the products to pull off some of our favorite Fall 2022 beauty trends.

Makeup artist Diane Kendal put a modern spin on the '60s-inspired smokey eye at Jason Wu. "We used a beautiful yellow as a pop of color in the inner corner to bring even more interest to the eye, which also makes it great for day or night," Kendal explained.

'80s-Inspired Blush

Bright draped blush à la the 1980s was the focal point at Christian Cowan. Smashbox Cosmetic's global pro lead artist Lori Taylor Davis came up with the look, which took a hot pink sweep from the apples of the cheek up and around the brow arches. The secret weapon? A creamy, vibrant lipstick was used in place of a classic blush.

Bleached Brows

In a surprising turn of events from the bold and dark brows we've welcomed back into our beauty fold, shows like Hardware LDN went with the opposite extreme: bleached brows. This look certainly isn't for the faint of heart, but brow expert Joey Healy says that you can fake the trend without actually bleaching your brows. When choosing a brow tint, go with a lighter color than your natural brow. “Opting for a slightly lighter shade will make the brows less impactful and sit back a little more instead of taking center stage,” says Healy.

Models at Brandon Maxwell showed us exactly how to match extra rosy cheeks and lips, with fluttery lashes to finish. “For fall 2022, I wanted to keep the beauty looks both glamorous and attainable. I love seeing the natural beauty of the women enhanced with full lashes, creamy blush in warm tones, and light gloss on their lips,” said the designer. Makeup artist Fulvia Farolfi used Inner Beauty Cosmetics and K-beauty skincare brand, Schwanen Garten, to create the look.

Melted In Makeup

By Fall you'll be a pro at pulling out all the stops to keep your makeup from melting off of your face. But the look at Altuzarra suggests that make we don't need to try so hard. Makeup artist Dick Page, who created the look, describes it as “seafarers in salt spray, with the colors of deep oceans smudged around their eyes, fresh roses in their cheeks, and shimmering golden-dewed skin.”

At Carolina Herrera, the contrast between soft stained lips and the sharp but short flicks of winged eyeliner was perfectly balanced with the hint of blush that sat in between on models' cheeks.

Makeup artist Sheika Daley painted up a '90s Barbie look to complement Laquan Smith's collection. Models, including Julia Fox, wore slightly smoked-out cat eyes which were then outlined with a red silhouette to give the look a backlit effect. On the lips, shades of brown matched each model's skin tone and were all given a dramatic 90's-inspired outline.

The smudged-out gunmetal eye shadow seen at Michael Kors is equal parts vampy and grunge, but in the most glamorous, New York way. Some models wore bright red lips alongside the eye look.
